Elephant Nature
Park
Initially, the Elephant Nature Park is a sanctuary for abused
and rescued elephants. Here, 30 elephants ranging from land
mine victims, to car accident victims (from street begging
in Bangkok), to those beaten to near death, have the chance
to live out the rest of their lives in a dignified and safe
environment.
The long term aim is to work with government bodies and other
elephant community supporters to educate and change practices
throughout Asia, that include 'Pajaan' torture training programs,
that are currently used to 'break' the spirit of the baby
elephants, where they are virtually tortured to death in a
ritual, called 'Pajaan', leaving them with a subliminal fear
of their owner, which is a practice that has been going on
for centuries.
Ultimately, they would like to see an end to the use of elephants
as performers and pack animals and returned to the wild.

elephants eat 16 hours a day one quarter of their body weight
(imagine if we could!)
they are the 4th most intelligent mammals on earth (man, chimp,
dolphin, then elephant)
there are unfortunately 300 elephants begging on the streets
of Bangkok on concrete cement, due to many factors including....the
logging business being banned in Thailand since 1989
as the saying goes, "An elephant never forgets".
Did you know they can often remember a fellow elephant or
event for 40 years
they live on average till the ripe age of 70 and grow at the
same pace and developmental stage as humans
they are highly sociable creatures and have deeply developed
compassion and emotions
 What
is the relationship between elephants and man?
Elephants have a very unique and special relationship with
man with an intelligence, sense of humour and adaptive nature
which is not shared by other wild animals. Elephants are the
4th most intelligent mammals, (humans, chimps, dolphins, elephants).
One hundred years ago there were 300,000 Asian elephants
and now only 5,000.
How You Can Help
the Elephants
1. Buy a medical kit to treat our elephants from our online
store
2. Let people at home know that there are only 30,000 Asian
elephants left on the planet. (Imagine this in human terms,
as under a third of a sports stadium crowd)
3. Do not support elephant poachers by buying ivory or skin
products. If you own ivory already do not glamorize it by
wearing it. Demand causes death to these innocent creatures.
4. Check the merchandise of your local stores. If ivory or
other elephant body products are for sale contact the store
management to let them know that you oppose the sale of these
items and, until removed, will not use this store again.
5. Call your local zoo and ask if they are involved in any
overseas elephant conservation projects. They may have "elephant
days" and other such schemes. You may even get to help
out as a volunteer. Tell them about us; co-operation is the
best way for the elephant's survival.
6. Send letters to the editor of your local newspapers describing
the plight of the elephant and how we can all assist in their
survival.
7. Tell your friends overseas that they are welcome to visit
our web-site.
8. Order something from our on-line shop - proceeds help!
9. Join the park as a volunteer.
10. Support The Serengati Foundation's efforts.
